For this Earth Hour, shape your future!

Year on year during Earth Hour, we all switch off in solidarity to show how all our individual actions can make a huge impact on our overall climate goals. However, Earth Hour goes far beyond the symbolic action of switching off – it has become a catalyst for positive environmental impact, driving major legislative changes by harnessing the power of the people and collective action showing that together we can be the face of change. Since Earth Hour was first introduced in 2007 in Sydney it has been growing annually to become the movement it is today. Together, in Earth Hour 2021, we reached out to over 9.6 billion people using our #EarthHour as well as other related hashtags and saw Earth Hour take place in 192 different countries and territories around the globe.

The “Earth Hour” campaign is a global voluntary campaign that aims to unite people to protect the planet. The coordinating role for the events that take place in Cyprus, have the Cyprus Greens and the Young Cyprus Greens.

Together we can ‘Shape our Future’. 2022 is a crucial year as this coming summer, world leaders will be coming together to attend a critical United Nations conference on nature & biodiversity to establish an ambitious and binding global commitment – similar to the Paris Agreement, but for nature – to reverse nature and biodiversity loss by 2030. Earth Hour is the perfect opportunity to put the spotlight on our planet and build the global momentum needed to pressure world leaders into action.
The “Earth Hour Cyprus” team continues this year the campaign that started back in 2018, setting for another year as a national goal the reduction of single use plastics, thus giving the opportunity to all citizens with simple own practices to connect with the earth and become part of change. Finally, taking into account current events in Ukraine, through the global Earth Hour campaign we want to send a message of peace and solidarity, emphasizing the strength we have united!
On Saturday, March 26, 2022 from 20:30 to 21:30, we invite you to participate in Earth Hour by turning off the lights and giving a message of hope and peace.

Let’s Shape our Future TOGETHER!
